LM Wind Power is establishing a new strategic team, with the aim to secure “best in class” System Engineering Design Methodology. A strong manager is needed to head this process.

THE COMPANY
LM Glasfiber and Svendborg Brakes were merged in 2009, and in 2010 the new name  LM Wind Power was launched. LM Wind Power is the world’s largest blade and brake supplier for the wind turbine industry, with more than 4.700 employees world wide and a turnover in 2009 of close to 800 mill. Euro.

THE POSITION
You will be director for the new organizational unit System Engineering, and have reference to the CTO. Your main responsibility will be establishing and developing the new unit, in a close cooperation with the CTO.

The main location will be the main office in Kolding, Denmark.

The unit is expected to employ 10-12 people, for whom you will be the daily manager.

Main responsibilities within the group are:

• Develop group technology strategy.
• Identify business opportunities, with the aim to improve LM Wind Powers value proposition to the market.
• Develop system engineering design methodology.
• Develop business models for strategic technical cooperation between LM Wind Power and potential external partners.
• Conceptual design on new technology.

You will establish a close contact and cooperation with the largest wind turbine manufacturers and operators, in order to identify the future technological needs in the market. This will serve as an important input in the on-going development of LM Wind Powers products and services.

THE CANDIDATE
You hold a masters degree in machine engineering or similar, and you have broad experience within complex technical solutions.

You probably have several years’ experience within the wind turbine industry. As a minimum, you have a deep understanding of the involved technologies, such as aeroelasticity, mechanical component design, electrical systems, etc.

You come from a job where innovation and technical professionalism are key elements.

Further, you have a have a deep understanding of the commercial conditions in a rapidly growing market, and you enjoy working with strategic planning and business development.

As a person, you are ambitious and motivated by working with cutting-edge technologies and trends. You understand the market and can translate the market response into business opportunities.

Finally, you are characterised by

• Being a strong strategic manager, with minimum 5 years managerial experience
• Enjoying to work in an informal, yet result oriented organisation
• Being able to navigate in a ever changing market
• Being able to cooperate across the entire organisation
• Enjoying to multitask
• Enjoying to interact and communicate with external partners world wide, as well as within a decentralised international organisation
• Being in full command of the English language, both oral and written. German would be an advantage, as well

You will have great influence on the establishing and the development of the unit, including recruiting of key staff.
